The St. Lawrence Christian Academy opened it's doors to students and staff on September 10, 2007. Established by parents and teachers, this independent elementary day school is focused on academic excellence delivered with Christian values. We offer classes from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8.
At our school, learning is something everyone
loves to do. It is the norm rather than
the exception to hear happy kids talking about how much they like school. We think this can be attributed to three
things: small class sizes, exceptional
teachers and enthusiastic parents. Academic excellence extends beyond simply attaining the Ontario curriculum requirements. Additional programs ensure that all students are challenged and have a chance to learn the fundamentals.
At the St. Lawrence Christian Academy, parents and teachers work together to make
our school excellent and to help our students reach for the stars.

Founder of JUMP Math comes to Brockville!
Any parent, teacher or citizen who has ever worried about kids not knowing math should plan to hear John Mighton speak. For
those who aren’t familiar, JUMP is a highly effective program for
teaching or tutoring math. The initials stand for Junior Undiscovered Math
Prodigies. A professor at the University of Toronto, Dr. Mighton is the
author of two popular books on the subject of teaching math,“The Myth
of Ability,” and “The End of Ignorance.” Dr. Mighton travels
internationally inspiring students, parents, and teachers about the
doors that math can open for them. Mighton firmly believes that we
underestimate the ability of our children. Far from being the language
of a few, math is an accessible, usable, and desperately needed skill
for today’s generation of young people. A humble and
passionate man, Mighton shows parents and teachers how to turn math
from an area of dread to a source of pride and success.
Mr.
Mighton was invited to speak to students at The Great Math Challenge on
February 23, a math day for grade 5 – 8 students in the area. After
inspiring area students at the Math Challenge, Mighton will be speaking
to parents and teachers at 5:00 at the Centennial Rd. Church and will
be available afterwards for questions. The event is sponsored by The
St. Lawrence Academy and there is no charge for admission. All are welcome. Anyone
wishing more information about Mr. Mighton’s speaking event, or about
participation in The Great Math Challenge, can contact The St. Lawrence
Academy by calling 613-498 – 3333 or e-mailing

Spirit Week 2009
Spirit Week at SLCA was a welcome break to the long winter. From
Animal Kingdom Day, to Superhero Day, to Pajama Day, students and
teachers had a great time dressing up in some very creative outfits.
To end the week, on Red, White, And Pink Day, students participated in
Jump Rope for Heart to raise money for The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Winter Fun Day
Winter Fun Day was put on by the grade 7 and 8 class at the SLCA. After Christmas, the grade 7 and 8 students submitted a proposal to Miss Case: for the school to spend a Friday afternoon at Laurier hill. Grades 7 and 8 offered to organize transporation, games, snacks, and communication home to parents. Miss Case was in agreement, and the result was a great day for SLCA students.
The afternoon's activities included sculpture contests (the winner: a miniature cat), relay races up the hill (and down again), skating and sledding. These activities made for a great afternoon. Fortunately, the weather cooperated! Of course, the hot chocolate afterwards was tasty and warm!
